I think the aircraft was a descendant of the Northrop RALS HATOL submission to joint Navy/NASA VSTOL 1978 “Type B” tech evaluation program together with the VATOL N336-12. I have not been able to find out if the 1978 HATOL was actually in the same N336 series as the VATOL design and im not entirely convinced that it was, due to the radical differences in configuration and arrangement between the two designs. Any ideas?
